Second Opportunity Programme for Adolescents 12-18

  • A Second Opportunity Agreement for Adolescents was signed on 6 March 2018 between the Ministries of Social Affairs, Education, Vocational Training and Employment, UNICEF Tunisia and the British Government.
  • This project aims to:
  • Develop an inter-ministerial plan to identify adolescent girls and adolescents under threat of interruption and drop-outs and direct them to relevant institutions;
  • Introduction of new mechanisms for adolescents and dropouts with a view to their educational and social integration and responding to their specific needs.

  • Focus three second-chance school models in three states:
  1. The Institute of Occupations in Bab Al-Khadra as the first location in the north to be considered by the Ministry of Education
  2. A training centre in the Kairouan region is based on the Ministry of Vocational Training and Employment.
  3. The Centre for Defence and Social Inclusion is a third pilot site for the Ministry of Social Affairs to cover the states of southern Tunisia and the Centre's technical capacity to complete the project on the one hand and the economic potential on the other hand (occupational institutions) to enable the professional integration of children on the other.
