Together Against Child Labour Programme


Prepared by the Ministry of Social Affairs in cooperation with the International Labour Office "National Plan against Child Labour 2017 - 2020" 

General objective:

  • Develop practical perceptions and mechanisms to reduce children's access to the labour market and promote effective protection to ensure a balanced childhood. 

Program's specific objectives:

  • Identification and composition of social interventions from various social development structures as focal points charged with the file of resisting child labour;
  • Organizing a training course for focal points on the SCREAM programme to support interveners' capacities in raising awareness among young people and children about the risks of child labour;

 

  • Development of a communication strategy project and an action plan for its implementation with awareness-raising and sensitization dimensions, information, coordination and prevention (September 2018) aimed primarily at:
  1. All parties involved in the field, from governmental and non-governmental institutions, social parties, civil society organizations and the media, adopt the concepts and principles of preventing the phenomenon of child labour;
  2. Developing public attitudes, attitudes and policies at the national, regional and local levels to change the situation of children exposed to this phenomenon and reduce the worst forms of child labour;
  • The components of this strategy will be directed to government interventions, civil society, social actors, Tunisian society, the media, children, parents and families.
  •  To update the list of hazardous work in which children under the age of 18 are quarantined and issued pursuant to a decision of the Minister of Social Affairs dated 01 April 2020,
  • A manual of legal references on child labour has been prepared.
  • A training manual on child labour resistance has been prepared for field interventions.
  • A procedural manual has been prepared on intervention for their benefit and is in the process of validation.
  • Establishment of a follow-up and coordination system to address child labour CLMS in Sfax and Jendouba in the beginning of 2018 as a pilot experiment and establishment of committees that bring together different interventions in order to promote a multisectoral approach to action.
